Franck Rijk Fixed Income Adviser
Franck Rijk is a seasoned Fixed Income Advisor at Welford Capital, where he plays a pivotal role in helping clients navigate the complexities of the fixed income markets. At 37, Franck brings a decade of hands-on experience in bond analysis, portfolio construction, yield strategies, and risk management, with a sharp focus on delivering stable income and capital preservation in dynamic economic environments. His expertise spans UK gilts, corporate credit, investment-grade and high-yield bonds, and emerging fixed income opportunities, always aligned with clients’ risk profiles and long-term objectives.
Franck’s career in finance began shortly after completing his education, driven by a passion for markets and a desire to provide meaningful financial guidance. He graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Manchester in 2014, followed by a Master’s in Investment Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2015, where he specialized in fixed income valuation and credit risk.
Franck started his professional journey in 2015 as a Fixed Income Analyst at Barclays Investment Bank in London, where he supported the trading desk by analyzing credit spreads, interest rate movements, and macroeconomic indicators. Over four years, he developed a strong foundation in quantitative modeling and market research, contributing to portfolio strategies for institutional clients amid the post-Brexit volatility and low-yield environment.
In 2019, Franck moved to HSBC Global Banking and Markets as a Fixed Income Associate, advancing to a senior advisory role. There, he worked closely with high-net-worth and institutional clients, structuring customized bond portfolios that balanced yield enhancement with downside protection. His tenure included navigating the COVID-19 market dislocations, where he successfully guided clients through unprecedented liquidity challenges and central bank interventions.
Seeking to focus more on client-centric advisory work, Franck joined a boutique fixed income specialist firm, Insight Investment, in 2022 as a Fixed Income Portfolio Advisor. In this role, he honed his skills in active fixed income management, ESG integration in credit selection, and tactical allocation strategies, delivering consistent outperformance for private clients and family offices during a period of rising inflation and rate hikes.
In 2024, Franck brought his extensive experience to Welford Capital, drawn to the firm’s independent, client-first ethos and its commitment to innovative fixed income solutions in London’s evolving financial landscape. As Fixed Income Advisor, he leads the development and implementation of tailored bond strategies, leveraging current market conditions—such as moderating inflation, Bank of England rate paths, and attractive gilt yields—to optimize client outcomes. Franck is passionate about educating clients on fixed income dynamics and helping them achieve reliable income streams while managing interest rate and credit risks effectively.
Franck is a CFA Charterholder (completed in 2020) and remains actively involved in the fixed income community through regular contributions to industry webinars and thought leadership on topics like sustainable credit and duration management.
Outside of work, Franck enjoys running marathons, exploring London’s vibrant cultural scene, and staying current with global economic developments. His analytical mindset, combined with a genuine commitment to client success, makes him a valued member of the Welford Capital team.
“Building resilient income streams in uncertain markets – that’s the fixed income promise I deliver every day.”
