David Wilson
Fixed Income Adviser

David Wilson is a Fixed Income Advisor at Welford Capital, bringing over 10 years of specialised experience in fixed income markets, credit analysis, and portfolio construction. Based in London, David works closely with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and institutional clients to design resilient fixed income strategies that deliver stable income, manage interest-rate risk, and preserve capital in a constantly evolving rate environment.

David joined Welford Capital in 2023, where he is responsible for advising clients on UK gilts, investment-grade and high-yield corporate bonds, securitised credit, and global sovereign debt. He plays a key role in constructing laddered bond portfolios, managing duration exposure, and integrating ESG considerations into fixed income allocations. David is particularly focused on helping clients navigate the post-peak rate cycle, the Bank of England’s monetary policy path, and opportunities arising from credit spread compression and yield curve normalisation.

Prior to Welford Capital, David spent three years (2020–2023) at Schroders Asset Management as a Fixed Income Portfolio Manager within the UK Credit team. He managed a £450 million corporate bond sleeve, consistently outperforming the iBoxx Sterling Corporates index by an average of 65bps annually through selective credit positioning and sector rotation. He was instrumental in building the firm’s sterling investment-grade credit strategy and contributed to the development of ESG-enhanced bond mandates.

From 2017 to 2020, David worked at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management as a Fixed Income Analyst and later Associate Director. He provided bespoke fixed income recommendations to private banking clients with portfolios ranging from £2 million to £50 million. During this period, he specialised in liability-driven investment (LDI) solutions and developed a strong expertise in inflation-linked gilts and long-dated corporate credit during the low-rate environment of the late 2010s.

David began his career in 2015 at HSBC Investment Bank as a Graduate Analyst on the Global Markets Fixed Income desk, where he gained foundational experience in rates trading, credit derivatives, and primary bond issuance. He quickly progressed to supporting institutional sales and developed a deep understanding of gilts, supranational, and agency (SSA) bonds.

David holds a BSc (First Class Honours) in Economics and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), graduating in 2015. He is a CFA Charterholder (earned in 2021) and has completed the CFA Level III curriculum with a focus on fixed income portfolio management and fixed income derivatives.

Known for his clear communication style and calm analytical approach, David is passionate about translating complex bond market dynamics into actionable, client-friendly advice. He regularly presents on topics such as yield curve positioning, credit cycle analysis, and the impact of quantitative tightening on sterling bond markets.

Outside of work, David enjoys long-distance running, classical music, and following global macroeconomic developments. He is also actively involved in mentoring junior analysts within the London fixed income community.

David lives in London and continues to be driven by his commitment to delivering consistent, risk-adjusted returns for clients in an increasingly complex fixed income landscape.
